New monetary limits for claims at Court were introduced on 3 February 2014 allowing actions and personal injury claims valued under €15,000 to be dealt with by the District Court, any actions valued between €15-75k and personal injury cases valued at up to €60k to be heard by the Circuit Court. All personal injury actions valued above €60k/ and all other actions valued above €75k are to be brought before the High Court.The new arrangements were designed to make it less expensive for people to bring claims/ litigate and to achieve faster results for claimants through greater access to the lower courts.
