Pensioner awarded €137,000 after breaking hip in store fall
The Irish Examiner reported on 9.7.2015 that a pensioner who went to buy a waterproof gazebo to place over her cake stall at a farmers market broke her hip in a fall at Dunnes Stores.The woman was caused to fall over a deck chair that blocked her path and she suffered a break to her hip as a result. Dunnes Stores denied fault for the accident. Using CCTV footage from the store, the judge found 100% against Dunnes Stores on liability. She was awarded €137,000 compensation by Judge Abbott at the High Court in Cork.
